Jobs: Getting Arizona back to work
As a state legislator, I will work to remove
the barriers and burdens placed upon businesses that discourage
the expansion of existing business and businesses wanting to
relocate to Arizona.
The state has lost 1 out of every 9 jobs
since the summer of 2007. This is in excess of 325,000 jobs that
no longer exist since December of 2007. Arizona is ranked last
among all the states for job creation in 2009.
Arizona struggles
to attract businesses from over the regulated Pacific Coast
states. The state economy is heavily tied to the boom or bust
cycle of the construction industry and funding for promoting the
state’s second largest industry, tourism, has been cut.
Arizona needs to diversify its business base
by targeting emerging technologies, R&D, corporate/regional
headquarters, industrial manufacturing, logistics and
distribution, aerospace and defense and renewable energy. The purpose is not just to restore growth,
but to grow well. |
